Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

We offer Dental Care, not just dental treatments.

Dental veneers are skinny (thin), shells (tooth-colored) that are permanently bonded to the front surface of tooth. They enhance the appearance of teeth by restoring the anatomy of the tooth. Porcelain or resin-composite are the common materials to fabricate the veneers.

Am I a Candidate for Veneers?

Yes, if you are concerned about improving the appearance of your teeth, giving you a brighter and more even smile.

You are a right candidate for a veneer if you have:

  • pointed or unusually shaped teeth
  • space(gaps) in the teeth
  • discolored teeth that has not been fixed even with whitening
  • broken or chipped teeth
  • smaller-than-average teeth

In case of a broken or chipped tooth, usually one veneer can fix the defect. However, if your goal is to restore symmetrical smile, you may be commended six to eight veneers (for the upper front teeth)

Is there different type of Veneers?

YES

Traditional Veneers:

Most commonly made out of porcelain. These require more chair-side preparatory work. Involves removing some enamel structure (irreversible) under local anesthetic.

No-Prep Veneers:

They need less preparatory work and are less invasive. Options include: Lumineers and Vivaneeres.

Steps in Veneer Placement:

Consult appointment with your dentist- your dentist will recommend the right options and number of veneers that should be placed. If teeth are misaligned(Crooked) or uneven, your dentist may recommend to have braces before the veneers can be placed.

In the next appointment diagnostic X-rays will be taken to evaluate for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or the need for root canals. If any of the condition exists, that tooth may not be a candidate for veneer.

In the next session, the tooth will be trimmed (enamel is removed using a grinding tool), a mold (impression) of the teeth is taken, and sent to the lab to fabricate veneer

Once your veneers are in, your dental office will schedule the appointment to evaluates the fit, shape, and coloration of the veneers.

If Everything is as per standard of Care! Your dentist will place the veneers on the teeth. This appointment could take put 2 hours.

Taking care of Veneers:

Dental veneers are extremely thin shells bonded to the front surface of the tooth. Thus, to get a long span out of them, please follow the recommendations as:

  • Never use your teeth to open beer can, packaging or anything.
  • Don’t chew on hard objects like ice, finger nails and pens.
  • Do not use your front teeth for chewing. Always use back teeth to cut on hard foods.
  • If you are grinding or clenching your teeth at night ( nocturnal bruxism), your dentist will strongly recommend you get a night guard.
  • You must use a sports (mouth) guard while engaged in contact sports
