Bridges

We offer Dental Care, not just dental treatments.

What is a Dental Bridge?

It is a fixed prosthetic appliance made up of two or more crowns (abutment teeth) for the teeth on either side of the gap — and a false tooth/teeth (pontic) in between to fill the gap. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

Benefits of Dental Bridges?

Bridges will:

    • Restore the ability to properly chew and speak
    • Restore your smile
    • Improve the function in your bite suitably by replacing missing teeth
    • Maintain the profile of your face
  • Prevent drifting of remaining teeth

How Long Do Dental Bridges Last?

    • With good oral hygiene program at hoe as well as professional dental visits and regular checkups, the life span of a fixed bridge is estimated to be 10 to 15 years.
  • Cost of Dental Bridges
  • It may vary depending on the individual case and the material used. However, various dental insurance companies may normally pay a percentage of the fee depending on the individual dental plan. Please schedule your appointment to get the estimates.

Types of Dental Bridges

There are three main types of dental bridges:

  • Traditional bridges
  • Fabricating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth, with a pontic in between. These are the most common type of bridge and can be fabricated with either porcelain fused to metal or ceramics.
  • Cantilever bridges Are made in the case when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth. Not recommended anymore in the back teeth due to heavy biting forces
  • Maryland bonded bridges (aka resin-bonded bridge or a Maryland bridge) Metal or porcelain wings often on just one side of the bridge and bonded with existing teeth. Made of porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or plastic teeth and gums supported by a metal or porcelain framework.

Process for Getting a Dental Bridge

First Visit:

Preparation of abutment teeth by recontouring them teeth by removing a portion of enamel to allow room for a crown to be placed over them. Afterward, impressions of the teeth are made, to form a dental model of your teeth for bridge fabrication by lab. Finally, a temporary bridge is placed to protect the exposed teeth and gums.

Second visit

Temporary bridge is removed and new bridge is checked for the fit and adjusted, as necessary. Sometimes multiple visits could be required dependent on each individual’s case to check the fit of the metal framework and bite.

Will It Be Difficult to Eat OR Speak With a Dental Bridge?

NO, a dental bridge should help to ensure optimum function and biting as we are replacing missing tooth/teeth.

How Do I Care for a Bridge?

  • Brushing twice a day and flossing
  • Using an antiseptic mouthwash daily
  • Regular dental checkups
  • Regular cleaning schedule
